FAQ

The following are answers to the most common questions that I receive.

Do you shoot digital or film?

I photograph both digitally and with film.   I find that I love film photography the most.  Most of the images on my blog are analog photos.

Why film?

I love the grain, the mood, and the authenticity of film. I feel like each image tells a story. The thing I love the most is how light is captured on film.

Every step in the process – selecting film, loading the film, composing the image in the viewfinder, pressing the shutter, and waiting for the results, allows me the chance to slow down and enjoy photography.

Film photography, for me, embodies the true essence of the art.

What kind of cameras do you use?

I use a number of  different cameras, depending on my mood (and what film I have available).  I am trying to label each post with the camera and film that I used to take the photos.

My first film camera was a 35mm manual Pentax K1000, which I consider my workhorse – always ready to shoot when I ask.  The majority of photos on this blog are taken with my Pentax.  I also shoot 35mm film with my Nikon F100.

I have recently started shooting medium format photography.  I have a Hasselblad 500 c/m that I truly love (nothing compares to the sound of the Hassie’s shutter), and a Contax 645.

All of my polaroid images are taken with my Polaroid 680 Land Camera or my Polaroid 250 Land Camera.

Earlier digital shots were taken with a Nikon D90.  More recent digital images are captured on my Nikon D600.

That being said, the majority of my cameras are older than I am and were purchased on ebay.

What type of film do you use?

I use a variety of different film – Kodak Portra 400, Fuji PRO 400H , Fuji Superia 400, and my favorite – Kodak Ektar 100.

I also love Fuji instant pack film – Fuji FP-100c and Fuji FP-3000B.

Mostly, I use whatever I have on hand at the moment.

Can I use some of your pictures on my blog, website, tumblr?

All of the photos I post on my blog are protected by copyright.   I simply ask that you check with me first!

I spend a lot of time and money photographing, having my images developed, and scanning my work.  Please respect that.

Do you sell prints of your images?

Currently, I do not sell prints of my images.  Sometime in the near future, I do plan on making a select number of images available – please check back here.  In the meantime, if there is something you see that you would like to purchase – please let me know.

Please contact me if your question is not answered here.
