The stillness of the dark.
The comfort of light.
I love when they come together.
We carved some time for ourselves. A brunch date. Just what we needed to catch up. No husbands, no kids – just us. And after food and drinks and laughs, our tummies and our smiles were filled to the brim. I’ll never take that for granted.
The magnolia trees are in bloom. I couldn’t help but grab a couple to bring inside. Their sweet scent + afternoon light = pure joy.
I have finally run out of my beloved Polaroid 600 film. And I’m not having much luck with the impossible project film. . . .
As you probably imagine, there is a story that goes along with each of these images. But what I love about film is the ability to for each of these images to stand on their own. To tell a story of their own. About the time and place, what was going on, and what I was feeling when I clicked the shutter. I strive to capture that essence every time I pick up my camera. And in case you are wondering – that’s my grandfather in the framed picture in the last photo. I’m finally setting up my office/studio space and getting to surround myself with the things that I love (a tour coming soon).
A few images from today…. I’m learning that the best way to decorate is simply with plants. The last day of the school year is tomorrow. On Friday, I will have a 1st grader. The days are long, but the years are short. I just found this inspiring set on flickr. This one is my favorite. The “official” start of summer is this weekend, and I can’t wait.
My days have been so full. Not nearly enough time. End of the school year parties, dinners with friends, impromptu gatherings, finally being able to put the finishing touches on my office, trying to work on my portfolio, the list goes on… And changes are most definitely coming. It will be good for us. But it’s nice to come home, sit down, and share a meal. It feels good to be loved.
Details captured on black and white film. More soon, so busy these days.
This year, we planted tomatoes, bell peppers, cayenne peppers, strawberries, parsley, and green onions. We also luckily inherited an apple tree with our home (top two photos) – and I can see the first few apple buds already. Hopefully, more pictures of our harvest will follow!

That first photo is both striking and dramatic.
Shadow and light – perfectly captured by you, as always.
Ronnie xo
I love the last one w/the light gleaming off the dark wood. All are good shots – you have perfect light. Well..I guess we all kinda do if we make ourselves see it at the right time, huh?
Zen-like beauty. Love your words too.
The first capture feels like a perfect backdrop to nestle in and dream on… velvety soft and mellow dreams.
Oh my goodness, that light is SO beautiful!
Natural light just beautiful pics the 1st one is my favourite!
Carla
lovely, especially the first half of the first photo.
Beautiful atmosphere you captured.
these are exquisite! The last one is my fave, how you took that with ektar is incredible!
The first photograph is stunning – but I also like the last a lot. Great images and great work with light. Btw, I saw your comment abot Fuji 400H and agree – it’s great at box speed but overexposed a little it is super.
