To say that I am enjoying my new home is an understatement.  I am loving my home.  It simply feels right.  This is the place that we should be.  We are still settling in.  I still have boxes to unpack.  But I wanted to share a few things that I am loving about our new space.

Extras left over from the previous owners of our home – I love this vintage memo board.

A vegetable garden!  I look forward to heading outside for fresh tomatoes, bell peppers, and rosemary.  Thinking about what else I can grow (suggestions welcome!).

Finding my tea pot in the sea of boxes.  I’m back to my morning rituals.

Laundry, laundry, and more laundry.  Not that bad with all of the light this room gets.

A freshly baked cake from a kind neighbor to welcome us to the neighborhood.

A freshly baked cake from a kind neighbor that is good!

Coffee.  Loving the french press.

Setting up the girls’ room – finding linens, dressing beds, letting the sun light stream in.

And perhaps my favorite part of our new home – the playhouse.  It needs a bit more cleaning, but my girls are loving it already.

I’m still getting used to the light in this space.  The best times to photograph, the angles, etc.  All in due time….

I love those moments – just after a summer rain – when the air is cool and there is a slight break from the heat.

When the clouds are still gray, the house is still dark, and lamps come on in the middle of the afternoon.

Not quite light, and not quite dark.

Do you know those moments?

And even as much as I love the long summer days and bright sunlight that comes with them, I also enjoy the summer rain. The peace and renewal and the calm that it most certainly brings.

Enjoyed brunch at West Egg and I definitely know I will be back.  The food was excellent!  And did you notice the old library card catalog being used to hold packets of sugar? Love.

I’d like to thank you so much for your kind words.  In this time of transition, I always know that I can return to this space for familiarity, comfort, and peace.  I guess that’s why I am drawn to sharing so much in this space.  My posting may be a bit sporadic in the next couple of weeks, so please bear with me as I manage this transition.   I also can’t wait to settle in to our “new-to-us” home, and share this process with you.

First things first, I have to find a new lab to process my film in Atlanta (any suggestions would be great!).

We spent our last weekend in Pittsburgh with friends, outside – enjoying wine with the laughter of our girls in the background.

I knew we would only spend a year in Pennsylvania.  We arrived with a two week old baby and a three year old little girl, with no friends or family to speak of for miles away.   I knew that the year would be tough and that the winter would be hard.

What I didn’t know was that the year would fly by.  That I would make so many dear friends.  Not just “friends”, but life-long relationships.  I once believed that I didn’t have time for friends anymore.  I barely had time for myself, and my family.  How wrong I was.

I didn’t know how much I would grow in my mothering.  How confident I would be this time around.  How many play dates my girls would have.  How many friends they would make here as well.

I didn’t know how much we would create a home for ourselves here.  How being apart from our family would make the four of us grow and bond and depend on one another.

If someone would have whispered these things in my ear a year ago, I would not have believed them.  But all of this is true.

I will always look back at my time here with such fond memories ….

Sometimes a lunch date with an old, dear friend is all I need to get me excited about my move back to Georgia.  We haven’t lived in the same city since college, so we are looking forward to many more!

A couple of captures from a recent shopping trip with my sister-in-law, who might as well be my sister.  The boutique was really cute – I especially loved the “mirrors on the wall”.
