Hi, there.  I hope you are well.

It’s amazing how much I have missed this little space!  But I have enjoyed my little break immensely.  So much to share with you, my friends.  And I will – slowly, but surely.

Summer is here.  A few ways I can tell ~

+ My baby girl only wants to wear her diaper – nothing else.

+ My 4 year old is almost 5.

+ Evenings are spent at the pool.

+ Lemonade is in heavy rotation.

+ Only white, cotton sheets are on all the beds.

More images, soon!

I’ve been thinking a lot about that lately…. what makes a house a home.  Is it family? love? traditions? food?  All I know is that each one of these images captures “home” for me.

As I prepare my family for yet another move, I’d love your thoughts on this!

I’ll be away from this space next week, happily enjoying some time offline.

See you soon ~

  • marea - June 17, 2011 - 5:14 am

    definitely… i love it!!!ReplyCancel

  • mary - June 17, 2011 - 10:21 am

All of the above! Family, love, traditions, food…and a feeling of comfort. That’s it for me.

I just love these shots, Azzari – the colors are so warm and inviting, and there is something so unassuming and easy about each one. And there’s nothing like baby feet and hands to make me smile. (I just want to nibble on them! haha)ReplyCancel

  • Kristina - June 17, 2011 - 3:05 pm

i’ve done a bit of thinking about that lately as well. we moved into a new (well, not new but new to us) house about 6mn ago and since then i’ve been on that topic constantly. it feels like home now, bt hard to say how much time i called it just a house, mybe a couple of first months. for me, funny to say, but painting helped A LOT. i think i could breathe easier when i had “my” colors on the walls, ceiling and doors. it is also a lot about decoration, about personal belongings, but of course, it would be nothing without family, love, kids, cute small bare feets, cozy beds, food and preciuos moments. love your photos, 1 (cuteness!),2 (love photos of big and small shoes!),6 (wonderful light) are my favs. the last one makes me hungry.ReplyCancel

  • suzie - June 18, 2011 - 3:05 am

I think it’s the people who live in it, and the energy they create….all the rest is just stuff. I mean, the bed shot is beautiful, and it’s all about the person who slept there rather than the pattern of the sheets. Does that make sense?ReplyCancel

  • Karen - June 18, 2011 - 11:36 am

Lovely pics filled with lots of love.ReplyCancel

  • Shokoofeh - June 19, 2011 - 5:08 am

Magically adorable photos! The first photo of your darling girl just melts my heart! :)ReplyCancel

  • Paula - June 19, 2011 - 7:38 am

Oh, Azzari – I love your gorgeous daughter’s pose. As for what makes a house a home, I think you’ve nailed it. For me it’s foremost all about love/family – about all being together in the same room or space, even if we are not participating in the same activity. I notice when our family is in complete harmony, we seem to spend alot of time at home, chatting and doing simple things together..it ends up being the place we all seem to be happiest – even if we don’t actually own it!ReplyCancel

  • Paula - June 19, 2011 - 7:39 am

PS Best of luck with the move.ReplyCancel

  • Georgianna - June 21, 2011 - 5:42 pm

Yes, I think all of these things have bearing on the creation of a home, dear Azzari. Oh, your baby is so big already!

Wishing you a smooth move and hope it’s to a beautiful place where your girls can daydream and be happy. xo – gReplyCancel

  • Jacqueline - June 24, 2011 - 1:17 am

it’s the little details, like the ones you’ve shown here, that make it a home, i think. lovely set.ReplyCancel

  • leila - July 2, 2011 - 7:34 am

These are all so lovely, I especially love the first two photos. So adorable!

I moved from Hawai’i to LA in 2008 and when I did, I remember it being so hard. Never thought it would be so difficult till about two weeks before I left. A lot of happy memories kept surfacing, I started noticing the little things that I would miss about home. So, I think for me, creating happy memories with people I love makes a house a home.

Also, what is that rice dish in the last photo? It looks delicious! :)ReplyCancel

  • Karleen - July 3, 2011 - 5:37 pm

I agree with everyone here. For me, home is about creating comfort and a place where we feel safe. A place that is not “lived in” is not a home to me. I have three cats, and they scratch the hell out of our couch. This used to bug me so much, but now I see those scratches as part of my home and part of the experiences/memories created here :) I still occasionally tell my kitties (gently of course) to stop their scratching when I catch them in action, ha!ReplyCancel

As promised, a few more captures from the reception.  Thanks for your kind comments on my previous post!

The light was pretty tricky inside, but I liked how these turned out.

It has been a while since I’ve been to a reception so beautiful.  The attention to detail was amazing.

Good day to you!

Hats off to all wedding photographers – this is hard work!  But one thing is for certain – there is no shortage of beautiful things, food, and people to shoot at a wedding and reception.

I received more than a few odd stares from folks as I manually focused, clicked the shutter, and manually advanced the film.  It was worth it though!  I love the results.

I have a couple more shots from the reception that I’ll share with you tomorrow…..

  • Karin - June 14, 2011 - 6:03 am

Beautiful. I love your photographs of the musical instruments. They immediately paint the sphere in a way. Beautiful flowers too!ReplyCancel

aw, i can only imagine and believe you how it is shooting wedding. have never done it myself and hard imagine how it would be. of course many beautiful moments! so funny to read your description about some people staring at your equipment and shutter sound, ha ha, i believe it really worth it 😉
beatiful pictures. love the 1s and 2nd. 1st bcause it looks so festive with that subtle colorful bokeh, 2nd because of the expression caught, so so preciuos.ReplyCancel

My heart is so full from such a wonderful weekend.  I attended my cousin’s wedding in Chicago, and it was so beautiful!  I wasn’t able to capture many images at the actual wedding, as I was busy attending to my oldest daughter who was a flower girl for the first time.

I made up for it at the reception, and I have a few images to share with you.  But right now I have to recover – easing slowly back into our routine.

More soon!

  • Jacqueline - June 14, 2011 - 12:25 am

Oh, Chicago! One of my fave places to visit. Looking forward to seeing those reception pics!ReplyCancel

I love this room in my sister-in-law’s home.  During the day, it is filled with light.   And when the afternoon fades into evening, it’s easily my favorite place to be…

I recently came across a quote by Maya Angelou that really speaks to me ~

When you learn, teach.

When you get, give.

Simple yet profound, these are definitely instructions for life.

Have you ever met someone and immediately felt like you’ve known them forever?  The more you talked, the more you realized that you had so much in common?

And what was meant to be a quick stop to grab coffee, turns into a conversation of thoughts, dreams, challenges, and hopes for the future?  Trading stories, backgrounds, and creative outlets.  Laughing at our own insecurities, but relishing in our potential to collaborate.  Realizing that we are indeed, kindred spirits.

Thanks, Molly.
