The simple joy of bringing the outside, in.

It’s been a long week.  I’m glad it’s behind me.

And this weekend looks full as well, but with promises of good food and good people – I’m looking forward to it.

Thanks so much for all of your sweet comments on my workspace.

Have a great weekend.

I’ve shared a few images from my workspace before, and I was waiting for the room to be “finished” before sharing more.  It has occurred to me that this room will never be finished (isn’t that always the case?).  It is a room of inspiration for me, and I find that I make little changes daily.  So, no need to hold out any longer!

There is no rhyme or reason for my wall gallery.  I decided to included different sizes, textures, and shapes.  Some of my work framed, my mother’s mixed media art, drawings, polaroids, etc.  Each image inspires me.  And the vases I found at a wine tasting room in Napa Valley have found their way to this room.

I included a little reading corner.  One of my girls are usually sitting in the grey chair, while I am at my desk.  The drawing of me was a gift from my husband when we were dating.

As you can probably imagine, I have a lot of film around the house.   This drawer is devoted to polaroids.  It’s getting a bit crazy, so I definitely think I should work on a better organization scheme.

Random bits and pieces on my desk…..

Yet another inspiration corner.  Some images my own, and some of my favorite photographers, each attached with wasabi tape to the wall.  My scanner is directly underneath.  I use it pretty frequently.

And finally, my bookshelf. Little things I have collected from trips, handmade gifts from my daughters, my trusty Pentax camera, and a photograph of my grandfather.  The Smith Corona typewriter is pretty special to me – it was my first ebay purchase in 2009, and it was included in the IKEA postcard set.

And like every work in progress, my little space will probably change next month!

I’ve been working on our home and your place is so inspiring to me. I like your gallery wall, especially the see through frame versus using matting. Those thin drawers are so great. My mom has a few like that that stored all of our supplies growing up. Where did you get the strap for your Pentax?ReplyCancel

It’s been a while, hasn’t it?

I’ve been working on a few projects which I’ll share soon.  And spending a lot of time with my girls, being present.

There’s a chill in air now that’s October, and I’m reminded how much I love this time of year.

More, soon.

Scenes from Sunday brunch with a few of my favorite ladies.

First time using Portra 160, and the verdicts still out.  I need to test a few more rolls.

Small confession… For the past year, I could not have taken a straight picture to save my life.  Thanks to an eye exam on Saturday, I finally found out why.  Glasses on tap for me.   I picked a funky pair I like.  It will be nice to see the world a bit straighter from now on.

  • Vickie - September 24, 2012 - 8:19 am

  • traceyinohio - September 25, 2012 - 5:58 pm

Yummy brunch!! I can’t take pix straight either. Seems like I always tilt my head! What’s up with THAT? Even when I’m sure my head is in line, when I download, I have to straighten it most of the time. Glasses? Hmmm…ReplyCancel

  • jenny - September 26, 2012 - 8:15 pm

A weekly indulgence for me are fresh flowers around my home.  I have mentioned before how I have learned to decorate with plants.

I have amassed quite a collection of jars.  Anything but traditional vases!

A long day.

Rain quietly falling just outside the window.

Our girls are tucked in safely for the night.

Our evening begins.

He cooks.

I light a candle, set the table.

And we finally sit down for dinner.

I look forward to these evenings the most.

Just the two of us.

The light is changing.  The days are cooler.

The morning light sneaks in a bit later, and evening light is coming earlier now.

I’ve been going through my archives, finally getting some of my work printed and framed to hang on the walls of my home.  I came across these images that I took in Italy during our trip in 2009.  All are digital, and I overlooked each of them because they were out of focus.  Thank goodness I don’t delete photos, even when I might not see that sparkle immediately.

The top 4 images taken in Venice on the banks of the Grand Canal.  The last image is a carousel in Florence, Italy at night.

  • margie - September 5, 2012 - 8:47 am
